World Wide Knit in Public Day - Saturday June 10th
Welcome Special Guest Cat Bordhi!
Cat Bordhi is an inspiring teacher, designer, and story-teller who puts her students at ease while she nurtures the best in them. “I use handwork to usher groups of individuals into a sanctuary where the movement of our hands awakens a sense of well-being so abundant and innocent that it seems to untangle that which might otherwise divide us,” she explains, “it’s a universal solvent, like water.” She’s never met a knitting problem she didn’t want to solve, and especially loves a problem she’s never seen before. As one of her students wrote, “Your generosity of spirit and kind attention to everyone set the stage for all to grow and learn.”
Cat’s 8 innovative knitting books, award-winning novel, Treasure Forest, and Youtube tutorials have reached nearly 5 million people. In 2003 she founded the collaborative Visionary Authors, fostering a stream of influential, spirited, and independently published knitting books. She holds legendary spring and fall knitting retreats near her home in Friday Harbor, Washington, and recently added Weaving for Knitters retreats, based on her latest passion for merging the two methods. She and her brother Pecos lead intimate groups to Peru, Iceland, and other countries (they are adding Scotland in 2018) with a strong textile tradition, to experience culture, communities, and landscapes at a transformative level, made possible by the deep friendships they have in these countries.
